Let’s defend the Yugoslav Army Headquarters protest is an initiative organized by pro-Russian, anti-Western organizations Nova komunistička partija Jugoslavije (NKPJ) and its youth branch, Udruženje Savez komunističke omladine Jugoslavije (SKOJ). They are known for their close connections not only to individuals close to the Serbian government but also to Putin’s Russian organizations. For instance, they received public support from a known pro-Putin, anti-Western propagandist, retired Serbian Army colonel Zoltan Dani (b. 1956), who is directly connected to a Serbian coalition ruling party, Socijalistička partija Srbije (SPS).
Here, we will briefly cover just one prominent protest initiator, Ilija Živković (b. 2001), a member of the central committee of Nova komunistička partija Jugoslavije (NKPJ), who was also 13th on the Ruska stranka (Russian party) electoral list in the December 2023 Serbian parliamentary elections (see: official source).
Here’s a video excerpt from their protest, broadcast on TV Nova S’s main news show on April 27, 2025:
