Dane Čanković

Dane Čanković is a Bosnian Serb political figure known for his leadership of the Serbian National Movement “Izbor je naš” (“The Choice is Ours”). He has been an active mouthpiece for Russian interests amplifying Kremlin-backed narratives, while undermining democratic institutions. In June 2009, Čanković garnered attention when his movement displayed posters across several Bosnian cities wishing a happy birthday to Radovan Karadžić, the wartime leader of Republika Srpska who was on trial for war crimes at the time. Beyond his political activities, Čanković has been involved in business ventures. His company, “Dobro,” secured multiple government contracts for vehicle washing services, including agreements with the Ministry of Internal Affairs of Republika Srpska and other state institutions. Between 2017 and 2021, these contracts amounted to significant sums, with the Ministry of Internal Affairs awarding a total of 140,400 KM (Bosnia and Herzegovina Convertible Marks) over six contracts. Čanković has also been a vocal opponent of Bosnia and Herzegovina’s potential accession to NATO. He has advocated for referendums and public discourse on the matter, emphasizing the importance of national sovereignty and the historical context of NATO’s involvement in the region…

For instance, at the March 26, 2025, event named “The Patriarchate of Constantinople as a Political Instrument: The Destructive Activities of Patriarch Bartholomew,” organized by the Center for Geostrategic Studies, he, along with other known propagandists, spread a well-known anti-Western, pro-Putin disinformation narrative supporting Russian aggression against Ukraine and opposing the newly autocephalous Orthodox Church of Ukraine:
